Decorated Bin with Rope

Image
I like the rope look on bottles and such that I have been seeing lately so I thought I would try this on a tin bin that I had picked up on clearance at Michaels some time ago. I used a hot glue gun and after wrapping it all around I cut all the loose strings added a lace ribbon to the top. I was going to use it in my craft room but decided to use it in the bathroom and put items I usually keep out on the counter. Still debating whether or not to add a flower or something the the front. Maybe I will find a burlap flower or try to make one....maybe a butterfly...something is needed. Gonna sit with it for a bit, then decide.

Labels

Image
I just finished creating all the labels to put on all my newly organized boxes. I used Hammer mill 80 pound white paper for the labels I cut out on the Big Shot. The inks work great on this paper, I use it a lot for stamping and doing cut outs that I will color on my own rather than using patterned paper. Memento Ink is pretty much all I use now. Its the best I have found with copics and stamping. Happy Crafting Everyone!!

Adopt A Soldier

Image
In early December I had decided to get my craft room organized for the main purpose of making a lot of cards. I wasn't sure who or what organization I was going to do these for, is all I knew is I missed doing this and wanted to get involved again. Just finishing my third book on the Navy Seals I decided I wanted to do something for the soldiers. They go through so much for us every second of every day so I got online and typed into Google "How to help a soldier" There I found Adopt A US Soldier.  http://adoptaussoldier.org/   On this site you may request a certain branch of the Military if you wish. Since we had family that had been in the Navy I wanted to choose that, but of course I would've been honored to help anyone they gave me. I am not sure I like the title of "Adopt", I think sponsor is a better word for this but I will try to leave my picky side at the doorstep on that one. :)  They are all volunteers, very helpful in the whole ...

Craft Room Decor

Image
I am nearly done organizing my things now in my redone craft room so now I am starting to add some decorations. One of the things that I read when redoing your craft room is to surround yourself with things you love when you add decor. I love, love, love flowers. They are just about my favorite thing on this earth.  My husband brought this green tin home that someone from his work was going to throw out, he thought I would be able to make something out of it. Here is what I did..... I loved the color and it works well in my new craft room so I wanted to fill it with big colorful flowers. The bin is deep so I didn't want to buy flower foam as it would be pretty expensive so I decided to cut out some chipboard and put holes in it to hold the flowers. The bottom measured at 15 inches. The top was 18 inches. I decided to add one inch to the bottom measurement.  Tracing the bin at the bottom, then I made 1 inch marks a few inches apart all around the edge. Connect the...

Paints Organized!

Image
I had my paints scattered in different places throughout my room and now I have them all out in the open and in one place making it easy to see and choose what I need. This is on the wall of my craft room as you are entering. And you guessed it, I got the shelves from Ikea. I do a lot of painting, anywhere from wood crafts to painting metal embellishments. Painting is one of the things I love to do most. These shelves are nice because they will also fit behind my door if I ever need to get more.  During this redo of my room I have realized I had such an overflow of product that I had become completely overwhelmed. My creativity came to a complete halt. I would walk into my space and not know where to start. I have been working on this redo since mid December and I am now creating spaces for my items that leave me a little room to grow and if I get to the point where something is full. I either use the items before purchasing more or I purge on something old. I am nearl...
